History of the Robel Pug Kennel

Robel Kennels is owned and operated by Carol and Pete Martin of Thomasville, NC.  They have over 25 years experience breeding and showing pugs.  Carol started raising pugs in the late 1970's with her first male Defense.  From there she produced her first show dog Sunset Limited or Sunny for short.  Sunny was the first Martin pug to win Winners at an AKC sanctioned show in 1980.  From there Robel Kennels or Roundhouse kennels as it was originally called was born.  Carol chose the name Roundhouse for her kennel as Pete was a third generation railroad man with Norfolk Southern Railroad.  His grandfather was an engineer with Southern Railway out of Roanoke, VA.  Carol has and continues to name her fawn pugs after famous railroad lines.  The kennel name was later changed to Robel Pugs for Robbie and Ellena their youngest two children of 9 total.  The children often accompanied their parents to dog shows growing up.  Today the grandchildren participate in the fun.  Pete and Carol are full time RV'ers and travel the country side from dog show to dog show.  Carol Martin's name for quality pug show dogs is known all over the United States and even abroad.  She is very particular who she sells or breeds her dogs to.  Each candidate is carefully screened to make sure the dog will be well taken care and if any breeding or showing is to be done it will be to the high standards set by Carol.

Robel  has produced champion male and female pugs since 1980.  Carol actively shows 2-5 dogs at a time.  They visit shows year round  from Maine to Florida building championship points.  Carol has a special interest in the Black Pug and supporting its growth in the breed.  Its difficult sometimes to win against the fawns but Robel has some of the finest black pugs in the country.   Whether your looking for a champion caliber show dog or a fun loving companion Robel Pugs has both.  All dogs have complete pedigrees and are registered with the American Kennel Club.  You can email Carol now by clicking here or going directly to the contact form.
